The chemical name of Texas Red® (Figure 1) is Sulforhodamine 101 acid chloride. Texas Red is often used in flow cytometry or in real-time PCR applications (DLPs, Scorpion primers and Molecular Beacons), most efficiently quenched by BHQ-2.
